Day One

Breakfast and a visit to Dubrovnik Old Town

It is your first day in Dubrovnik, and the best way to begin is with a good breakfast. Exploring on an empty stomach isn’t fun. Gradska kavana Arsenal, for example, is a popular spot with plenty of breakfast options. Try a classic omelette, a croissant, or eggs with bacon, and enjoy an espresso before you head out.

Begin your day by heading into the Old Town. The Franciscan Monastery and its historic pharmacy, along with the impressive Sponz Palace, give you a look into Dubrovnik’s rich history. Every corner of this city has a story to tell. Don’t miss the famous city walls—they offer amazing views of the Adriatic Sea and the Old Town’s streets. If you want unlimited bus rides and free entry to several museums, consider getting the Dubrovnik Pass.

Lunch and Time for relaxation

Walking the city walls usually lasts about 2 hours, so it is nice to have some spare time afterwards. Start with lunch. No matter what you prefer, you can choose from a diverse range of restaurants. Grab a pizza or choose a restaurant with traditional Dalmatian food. Have a look at some recommendations in this article.

After lunch, don't miss the chance to visit Dubrovnik's stunning beaches for relaxation and leisure. The Adriatic Sea has exceptionally clear water. The most popular beach for relaxing and soaking up the sun is Banje Beach. It offers incredible views of the Old City Walls and the Adriatic Sea. In contrast, the more serene Copacabana Beach is ideal for families with younger children. It has shallow waters, so the kids can easily access the sea. So no matter what you prefer—sunbathing, swimming, or enjoying water sports—Dubrovnik's beaches cater to all preferences.

A Boat Trip to Lokrum Island

If you’re looking for adventure, take a day trip to Lokrum Island. Boats leave often from Dubrovnik’s old port, making it easy to get there. Lokrum is a hidden gem with lovely beaches and a peaceful vibe. Once you arrive, explore the island’s greenery and enjoy the stunning views of the Adriatic Sea.

The most important cultural monument on Lokrum Island is the Benedictine monastery, which dates back to the 11th century. The monastery is not only rich in history but also served as a filming location for the popular series Game of Thrones. You can also swim at one of the island's best beaches and stroll through the lovely gardens.

The island is also perfect for those seeking adventure, like kayaking, swimming, and snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters.

Cable Car Experience to Mount Srd

Mt. Srd is the hill above Dubrovnik and offers a great view of the city. To enjoy it, take the cable car up to the top. The ride offers panoramic views of Dubrovnik, the Old Town, and the nearby islands. It’s an experience you won’t forget.

If you prefer, you can hike up Mount Srd instead. The trails suit different skill levels and take you through beautiful scenery. Along the way, you’ll see local plants and animals. Reaching the top is worth it for the relaxing views of Dubrovnik from above.

The best times to enjoy the views from Mount Srd are early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The sunlight gives the city and sea a warm glow, making it perfect for photos and relaxing. Sunrise or sunset visits also mean fewer crowds and beautiful colours in the sky.

While you’re at the top, consider having dinner there. Panorama restaurant and bar give you a unique view of the Adriatic Riviera and a great atmosphere.

That would be all for the first day. Now it is time to relax (or party) and prepare for a new day.

Day two

Blue cave

It’s your second day in Dubrovnik, so get ready for more adventures. Start with a breakfast, like a sandwich from Franco Romano Panini bar, and enjoy an espresso. People in Dalmatia enjoy drinking coffee. For them, it is more of a social event and ritual that unfolds slowly, without a rush. It's an opportunity to socialise and chat, not just to drink coffee. So why not try to indulge with them?

Now onto our next stop. The Blue Cave in Dubrovnik is one of the most stunning natural attractions you can visit during your trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Known for its mesmerising blue waters, the cave gets its vibrant colour from the sunlight filtering through the entrance and reflecting off the seabed. The otherworldly glow is a truly unique phenomenon. You really have to see it.

To reach the Blue Cave, join a boat tour from Dubrovnik’s old port. Many tours also stop at places like Lokrum Island and the Green Cave on Kolocep. If you enjoy adventure, try snorkeling to see the Adriatic’s underwater life up close.

Lunch time and Lovrijenac Fortress

Your appetite is probably at its peak right now, and to satisfy it, you go to a restaurant. Since you are in Dubrovnik, it would be a shame to miss a traditional Dalmatian meal - peka. To enjoy in one, you can go to Konoba Dubrava or Local.

Now it is time to continue exploring Dubrovnik. For all Game of Thrones fans, Fort Lovrijenac is not just a remarkable historical structure but also the original filming location for The Red Keep. It represents King’s Landing in the series. Located just outside Dubrovnik's city walls, this fort has played a significant role throughout history.

Built in the 11th century, Fort Lovrijenac was designed to protect Dubrovnik from invaders, especially the Venetians. Perched on a 37-meter-high cliff, it offers beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea and the old town.

The fort also hosts cultural events, like summer performances of Shakespeare’s plays, making it an important part of Dubrovnik’s cultural life.
